Heidi Iverson (one of the founders of our Fibershed) designed two easy to knit patterns using my largest yummiest yarn. The kits have all the yarn required with the patterns printed. Heidi kindly designed these patterns for me to help sell the marvelous Elderlana yarns. My Elderlana yarns are made from the softest lowest yielding older sheep who live their entire life on this farm- who have been the critical part of my carbon sequestration plan. By my calculations each ounce of this yarn represents a pound of carbon sequestered. It is not just these sheep, of course, but the heirloom wheat and the cotton breeding nursery. But they are such a critical component of it all. These older sheep despite producing less wool, and less colorful wool (the silver color is from older black sheep and the off white color is from the older brown sheep) produce the finest wool with great loft and character. Try knitting with them- they are like comfort food for the hands and heart.
