The yarns used to make these fabrics have not been washed. The color will intensify with up to 20 washings. The first washing is the most dramatic change; subsequent color changes will be subtler. Wash the fabrics in soap or detergent as you would normally wash cotton fabrics; we recommend that the soap be dissolved in the water first. For more information on color change from washing, exposure to common acids/bases, detergents, and sunlight, please read about color developing. Fabric shrinkage will be similar to other cotton fabrics of similar structure. The Colorganic fabrics have not been treated with any sizing or anti-curling agents in the processing. Jersey knits consequently have a tendency to curl when cut. The amount of curling appears to be proportional to the amount of white cotton in the fabric. A solution of cornstarch and water can be used to starch these fabrics for easier cutting and sewing. |
